I have used Julie's services personally and found her to be a gift from heaven. After many moves in the past 2 years coupled with total frustration and burn out, Julie came to my rescue and helped me with the organization and the de-cluttering of my new home. Julie offered the emotional and practical support I needed to get my new apartment up and running. She has much common sense and practicality, stays calm yet uses tough love and takes a respectful role toward empowering her client. She is in one word, WONDERFUL. -- D. DuBois, Chatham, NY I recently hired Julie to help me hone my cooking skills. Not only is she a fantastic chef but she's an incredibly skilled teacher -- not an easy combination to find. Before the class, Julie thoroughly prepared herself with the recipes and techniques and so our time was spent very efficiently in the kitchen. In addition to teaching me proper cooking techniques like sauteeing and knife skills, she advised me on stocking my pantry with essential ingredients and then even sharpened my knives. We had a lot of fun and I ended each afternoon with a renewed sense of confidence and enthusiasm about cooking. Julie has very high standards for all aspects of her life, and on top of that she's smart, warm and fun. I look forward to many more cooking lessons with her. -- A. Eidenschenk, New Marlborough MA. Julie’s good sense has saved us time and trouble. She notices small problems — things like a window not closing properly, odd dishwasher noise, or wood in danger of warping-- and takes care to make sure they don’t turn into big problems. She has helped with organizing files, keys, phone lists, and kitchen drawers, so that it’s much easier to find stuff. A summer house guest opened the drawer containing vegetable peelers, can openers, spatulas, wooden spoons et al. and cried out, ``Oh my God, it’s so neat!” (I had to admit it wasn’t my doing. ) We also benefit from Julie’s fine aesthetic sense; our open-shelf linen cupboard, with its elegantly folded towels and blankets, is ready for Architectural Digest (not that they're coming any time soon). --C. Casey, Old Chatham. After the divorce, I needed to sell my big house full of 6 years of clutter and mess. Julie helped me clear everything out and stage the house to sell quickly. She even helped us organize a successful tag sale. I had three offers on the house and completed the sale in only four months, even with the slow housing market, in no small part due to her successful organizing skills. --H. Sims, Monroe, CT. --H. Julie Ulmer responded to our advertisement for a “homemaker” 5 years ago and since then she has done just that. She is incredibly reliable and cares for our lives with intuition and earnestness. We both work 60-80 hours per week. Julie has organized our house, closets, and many toys such that it is easier to keep things clean. She gives us welcome, useful input into what we need and will purchase it for us if we prefer. She will join us for major projects to maximize the work we wish to accomplish during a window of time, for example re-shelving after a renovation. It is a true luxury having a professional, objective eye sharing the care and management of the house. Most importantly, she is intelligent and socially competent and can independently manage things that typically fall on the head of the household. Julie often negotiates with and manages repairmen, tent companies, caterers, etc. Julie is a loving, responsible childcare provider, providing a consistent afternoon off for our au pair, as well as playdates with our au pair and friends’ children for whom she cares. She is part of the social fabric of our children’s (and now our) lives, and a wonderful, stabilizing influence. She is an excellent, experienced cook. Last but not least, Julie has a different relationship with each of her clients, professionally adjusting to the needs of the property (e.g. only cleaning up for weekend guests) as well as the formality of the family. We recommend her without reservation. Please feel free to ask her for our contact information in order to discuss further. --Elise, Chatham, NY Julie took care of our child and our home for 3 years. Children adore her firm but loving manner and she provides a wonderful combination of fun and structure. She arranged endless happy play dates with friends, bike rides, hopscotch sessions, field trips of discovery and adventure, time in the kitchen baking and cookie decorating. Julie knows how to amuse, entertain and keep a child happy, safe and sound while respecting the parents guidelines and rules. To add to her skills she is an amazing house cleaner, cook and organizer. Julie knows how to care for delicate antiques, get the worst stains out, find every cobweb and clump of cat hair, keep after hard water discolorations and leave things in a much better state than before she arrived. Julie is an impeccably responsible caretaker in every way.--Laura Resen and Cloud Devine, Chatham Center NY Julie saved our cat's life! After hiring Julie to care for our cat, Mimi, while being away for almost a month, Julie noticed that Mimi was exhibiting signs of high stress and anxiety. Julie alerted us to the situation immediately, but calmly, and suggested she transfer Mimi from our house to hers for the remainder of our trip. It was Julie's intelligent, loving care and quick thinking that saved Mimi. Julie was hired to pet sit, but when things changed from simple house/pet sitting to an emergency situation, Julie was an excellent first responder. It is this kind of care and responsibility that sets Julie apart and makes her so special. We whole-heartily recommend Julie for your pet care. We know your beloved pet will be cared for with love, and give you peace of mind while being away. -- Audrey and Mel Schoenfeld, Chatham, NY |
